Wolfe Island is the largest of the Thousand Islands, between Kingston and Cape Vincent, New York, at the entrance to the St. Lawrence River. It's about 29 km long and 124 square kilometres, part of the Township of Frontenac Islands, and its largest settlement is Marysville. About 1,400 people live there year-round, and the population can double or triple in summer.

The island was part of the traditional hunting lands of the Tyendinaga Mohawk people, and its original name is Kawehnóhkwes tsi kawè:note, "Long Island Standing"; in 2021 the township added that name to the welcome signs. The French called it Grand Island, and in 1792 Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe renamed it after General James Wolfe. In 1852 work began on a canal across the island to carry rail cars between American and Canadian lines by boat; it was completed but stopped being used by 1892.
